This particular listing is for a family sign that is 7"x16" or 10"x22" made on 1/2" thick MDF. MDF is a smooth wood product which is great for painting. I prefer spray painting all my pieces but really almost any paint works.

The easiest way, in my opinion, to hang this is with double sided mounting tape.
